Jane Leu
Fellowship Awarded 2002

Upwardly Global creates economic opportunities for underemployed immigrant professionals. Through direct services for immigrant job-seekers, and partnerships with major employers, Jane Leu and her team harness the extensive education and experience of these immigrant professionals and put it to work in leading U.S. companies such as Wells Fargo, Google and BearingPoint (KMPG Consulting).
Jane's extensive experience in the area of immigrant integration includes roles as Assistant Director for Resettlement and Assistant Director of RefugeeWorks at a national refugee resettlement organization. She also helped launch several Welfare-to-Work programs for refugees. As the first Program Coordinator for the Nonprofit Program (now the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations) at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, Jane contributed to research on nonprofit sector issues, including "Virtuous Capital: What Foundations Can Learn from Venture Capitalists," Harvard Business Review, March 1997. She is a frequent speaker on immigration issues, venture philanthropy and social entrepreneurship.
Jane is an Ashoka Fellow, a Manhattan Institute Social Entrepreneurship Award winner, and a Rockefeller Foundation Next Generation Leadership Fellow.
